ŠKODA has continued its rich run of awards success with a third successive City Car of the Year title at the annual Auto Express Awards. The brand was also commended for the Superb and Octavia Estate, in the Best Family Car category and Best Estate Car category respectively.
Milton Keynes, 16th July 2014 - The Citigo has been a firm favourite with Auto Express since its launch, having won the coveted Car of the Year title in 2012. Despite tough opposition in what has become a fiercely competitively sector, the judges felt that the Citigo still stands head and shoulders above its rivals. No matter how hard rivals have tried, they’ve failed to knock the ŠKODA off the top spot.”

Commenting on the award, Steve Fowler, Editor-in-chief for Auto Express said: “The Citigo takes to the crowded urban jungle like a duck to water. Compact dimensions, excellent visibility and an eager three-cylinder engine help you make the most of gaps in the traffic and park in tight spots.”

Collecting the award for ŠKODA, Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director added: “This award proves what a wonderful package the Citigo is. Affordable, stylish and fun to drive, it represents everything great about ŠKODA. We’re delighted that Auto Express continues to regard the Citigo as the best in its class, and this award means a great deal to everyone at the brand.”

More details of the Citigo’s award can be found in a special awards edition of Auto Express on sale from today (16 July).

Modern, dynamic and emotional; the new ŠKODA Fabia rolls up on the automotive catwalk. The first design sketch shows a young, crisp, urban small car with typical ŠKODA genes and lots of character.
Mladá Boleslav, 17th July 2014 - This is the first time in a series production vehicle that ŠKODA designers have incorporated elements from the ŠKODA VisionC show car. ŠKODA motorsport has also provided inspiration for the final design. These two foundations combined give the new ŠKODA Fabia more dynamics, passion and emotion.

This sharp, new image fuses crystalline shapes and sharp lines with the highest precision. The hatchback model is characterised by well-balanced, tight proportions. The new ŠKODA Fabia is now nine centimetres wider and stands three centimetres lower. In addition, the ŠKODA Fabia now offers a completely new, versatile interior with individual options for customization.

The newly developed ŠKODA Fabia is one further achievement in ŠKODA’s largest model campaign in corporate history, once again proving the strength of the brand.

ŠKODA is marking its fourth year of partnership with the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a spectacular display that celebrates the brand’s rich sporting history – on two wheels and four.
Milton Keynes, 19th June 2014 - The annual three-day festival remains an unmissable date in the motoring calendar, thanks to a dizzying mix of cars, stars and motor sport royalty. Held in the grounds of Goodwood House from June 26-29, the 2014 Festival of Speed promises to be the most spectacular to date, with some of the greatest drivers and rarest cars in the world putting on a show to entertain the crowds.

Fully interactive ŠKODA Pavilion
As in previous years, the ŠKODA Pavilion forms the centrepiece of ŠKODA’s Goodwood activities. For 2014, the pavilion explores and celebrates the brand’s cycling heritage, with a host of interactive displays and activities designed to engage visitors of all ages. These include a remarkable ‘Ride the ŠKODA Summit’ attraction that allows brave visitors to ride a ŠKODA bike up a special course constructed at the back of the pavilion. Other interactive features include a virtual Tour de France-style stage, and regular displays from a cycle stunt team.

The pavilion also plays host to two striking ŠKODA concept cars – the Yeti Xtreme and VisionC. Appearing for the first time in the UK, both are guaranteed to draw a crowd, with the rally-themed Yeti perfectly suited to the high-octane atmosphere of the Festival of Speed. Powered by a 1.8 TSI 160PS engine, the Yeti Xtreme incorporates an Octavia vRS braking system, 17-inch alloy wheels and chunky off-road rally tyres. Inside, the Xtreme includes four individual Recaro sports seats, four-point safety harnesses and a sports steering wheel with integrated paddles.

The VisionC takes the form of dynamically elegant five-door coupé, combining pure lines with perfect proportions. It also embodies ŠKODA’s passion for practicality and the environment, incorporating a large, aerodynamically efficient five-door body and an innovative natural gas drive system.

Thrills guaranteed: the Forest Rally Stage presented by ŠKODA
The theme for the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed is ‘Addicted to Winning – The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport’ - a title that fits perfectly with ŠKODA and its heritage of motorsport success. The brand’s legendary Fabia S2000 – the most successful rally car of the Super 2000 era – will be demonstrating its remarkable talents on the ŠKODA-supported 1.7-mile Forest Rally Stage.

This year, British star Neil Simpson will be in charge of serving up the action, with multiple daily runs through the stage. With vast experience in the world of rallying, Neil is currently campaigning his Simpsons Fabia S2000 on selected European Rally Championship rounds, and has already recorded a number of impressive results in 2014.

The 227mph, record-breaking Octavia vRS Bonneville Special will also be on display, along with the very latest incarnation of ŠKODA’s performance flagship. The sporting theme continues with the Citigo Monte Carlo, along with a Service Park Challenge area where visitors can pit their wheel-changing skills against each other. A further challenge awaits those who fancy their chances racing remote control Fabia S2000s, while younger fans can find out more about ŠKODA’s innovative Young Driver initiative.

ŠKODA UK has extended its sponsorship of this year’s Tour de France by becoming an official event partner for the UK Fan Parks. The new partnership coincides with the manufacturer’s 11th consecutive year sponsoring the race. This year’s Tour de France, the world’s largest annual sporting event, returns to the UK for the fourth time in its 101 year history. The race will run from Saturday 5th July – Sunday 27th July across England, Belgium and France.
Milton Keynes, 25th June 2014 - In addition to its global sponsorship, this year, ŠKODA UK has increased its involvement to become an event partner of the official Tour de France UK Fan Parks. Other activities run by the brand during the event include the chance to win a VIP hospitality trip to the final stage of this year’s race and a nationwide Fantasy Tour de France competition.

ŠKODA’s association with cycling dates back 119 years, when the Czech brand started out making pedal-powered two-wheelers. Today it’s respected as a global partner of the sport, and is celebrating the UK stages of the Tour de France with three stunning limited edition models.
Milton Keynes, 3rd June 2014 To mark the first three race stages taking place in the UK, ŠKODA is launching unique limited edition versions of the Yeti, Octavia and Superb.

Each has been designed with the keen cyclist in mind, and comes with ‘le Tour de France’ badging, waterproof seat covers and bike wheel bags – all of which feature the Tour de France logo. In addition, customers will receive a centenary edition of the Rouleur Tour de France book and a competition entry to win a VIP Tour de France experience.

Only 198 examples of each car are available to customers (a mix of either Red, White or Blue* – the national colours of both the UK and France). That’s the exact number of cyclists entered into this year's race.

Priced at £23,490, the Yeti TdF is based on the Outdoor SE 2.0-litre TDI 140PS 4x4 model. Additional specification includes an Amundsen satellite navigation system with DAB digital radio, Keyless Entry and Start System, floor mats and an internal bike rack.

The Superb TdF is priced at £28,490 and is based on the Estate Outdoor 2.0-litre TDI 140PS 4x4 and has the same enhancements as the Yeti, along with a space saver spare wheel and boot net programme.

Priced at £24,290, the Octavia TdF is based on the Estate SE 2.0-litre TDI 150PS 4x4 model. It has the same enhancements as the Yeti and Superb, with the addition of roof bars and a roof-mounted bike carrier instead of an internal one.

ŠKODA at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed

With the famous race starting on 5 July, this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed – just a week before, on 26–29 June – was the obvious place for ŠKODA’s cycling credentials to take centre stage. Visitors will even get the chance to win VIP hospitality tickets to see the cycling action.

Visitors to the ŠKODA pavilion at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be invited to ‘Ride the Summit’ with the chance to stand on top of the podium against the spectacular backdrop of Goodwood House. The ŠKODA pavilion will also house a cycling simulator challenge and merchandise store, plus there will be the chance to win a VIP Tour de France experience. Younger visitors can get creative and design the actual ‘King of the Mountains’ jersey which will be used on the 2014 Tour of Britain, staged in September.

The multi-award-winning range of ŠKODA cars will be on show, and as in previous years, ŠKODA will be the main attraction at the Goodwood Forest Rally stage, situated at the top of the hill climb course. The challenging woodland course will play host to our multi-championship-winning ŠKODA Fabia S2000, and drivers will include ex-Works star Neil Simpson with co-driver Clare Mole.
