It demonstrated its capabilities with a record lap time of 9 minutes 29.84 seconds on the toughest race track in the world – the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. The performance SUV is the first ŠKODA to also feature Dynamic Sound Boost for a particularly emotive engine note.

The ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS comes with all-wheel drive as standard. It provides everything the evergrowing target group for powerful SUVs could wish for thanks to its exceptional dynamics both on and off the road as well as its particularly bold appearance. It uniquely combines a modern lifestyle with sportiness; the efficient and powerful diesel engine impresses with its sustainability. With the perfect mix of a dynamic driving experience and excellent suitability for daily use, the KODIAQ vRS is the first SUV to combine the distinguishing qualities of all the ŠKODA vRS models.

Sportiness meets suitability for daily use

From a big shopping trip or a family outing to sporty usage on- and off-road, the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS is well-equipped for almost anything that everyday life can throw at it. The Czech brand’s first performance SUV is aimed at active and design-focused customers. With the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS, they can cultivate their modern lifestyle and highlight it with the car’s sporty appearance. The SUV offers sporty and enjoyable driving on the road thanks to its powerful engine. In addition, it can transport mountain bikes to a remote downhill mountain track in its spacious boot and can easily cope with moving house on a small scale. In a nutshell: the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS combines the qualities of a sporty, long-distance vehicle with those of a robust and very safe family car.

Through the ‘Green-Hell’ in record time

The ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS secured its first record even before its world premiere. Racing driver Sabine Schmitz, who is the only woman to have won the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring to date, conquered the Nürburgring’s 20.832-km-long Nordschleife in 9 minutes 29.84 seconds. The ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS thereby set a lap record for seven-seater SUVs in the legendary ‘Green Hell’. “The car looks sporty and is sporty to drive. I thought a seven-seater would be difficult to handle on a demanding circuit like the Nordschleife, but it handled like a dream and was easy to drive. I’m impressed,” said Schmitz, who has already driven more than 30,000 laps around the Nordschleife during her career.

ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS with exclusive details

Selected body elements in gloss black underpin the sporty appearance of the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS. In addition to the engine, the 7-speed DSG and intelligent all-wheel drive also contribute to the dynamic driving characteristics; progressive steering as standard ensures particularly safe and agile handling.

Furthermore, the sporty vRS also offers all the advantages of the large ŠKODA SUV. In addition to its spacious boot, the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS provides plenty of room for five or seven occupants, depending on the chosen version. It offers the latest technology for infotainment and connectivity. The car features a Wi-Fi hotspot and enables access to the ŠKODA Connect services. And in ŠKODA-typical style, the KODIAQ vRS also makes everyday driving that little bit easier with numerous Simply Clever features.

› Deliveries: ŠKODA delivers 1,148,600 vehicles to customers worldwide between January and November (+ 5.1%)
› Markets: Strong November growth in Russia (+ 42.9%) and Europe (+ 8.3%)
› Models: SUV models KODIAQ and KAROQ continue to be growth drivers

Mladá Boleslav, 13 December 2018 – ŠKODA continues on course for growth: The car manufacturer delivered 1,148,600 vehicles between January and November – an increase of 5.1% over the same period last year. In November, the company recorded 110,100 deliveries worldwide, a decline of 3.9% compared to the same month last year (November 2017: 114,600 vehicles). One reason for this sales development is the declining car market in China. ŠKODA achieved strong growth in Russia in November: delivering 8,200 vehicles represents an increase of 42.9% over the same month last year. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA remains the brand’s bestseller, and demand for the compact SUV ŠKODA KAROQ continues to rise.

ŠKODA has continued to grow globally in the first eleven months of the year. Between January and November, the car manufacturer’s sales have risen in Russia (+30.2%), China (+7.7%), Europe (+4.7%) and India (+1.8%). In November, the company increased its deliveries, particularly in Western Europe (43,300 vehicles, + 7.9%), Russia (8,200 vehicles, + 42.9%) and Eastern Europe excluding Russia (4,400 vehicles, + 15.8%).

Alain Favey, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing, emphasizes: “In the first eleven months of the year, we increased our deliveries by 5.1% compared to the previous year. An encouraging performance, especially in light of the introduction of the new WLTP test cycle and the currently declining car market in China. With our product campaign, we are providing the right impetus and winning over new customer groups to the ŠKODA brand. With the new ŠKODA SCALA, we are now taking the next step in successfully continuing our dynamic development in the important compact class.“

In Western Europe, ŠKODA delivered 43,300 vehicles in November, an increase of 7.9% over the same period last year (November 2017: 40,100 vehicles). In the strongest single European
market – Germany – ŠKODA increased its deliveries to 17,300 vehicles (November 2017: 16,100 vehicles, +7.1%). The car manufacturer posted double-digit growth in France (2,900 vehicles, +27.1%), the United Kingdom (6,300 vehicles, +20.6%), Spain (2,200 vehicles, +16.9%), Belgium (1,700 vehicles, +12.0%) and the Netherlands (2,000 vehicles, +11.0%).

ŠKODA delivered 7,700 vehicles on its domestic market, the Czech Republic, 7.6% less than in the same period last year (November 2017: 8,300 vehicles). On the other hand, the company grew in Poland (6,700 vehicles, 4.3%) and Slovakia (2,200 vehicles, 16.5%).

In Eastern Europe excluding Russia, the company increased its deliveries significantly: 4,400 vehicles represent an increase of 15.8% compared to the same month last year (November 2017: 3,800 vehicles). ŠKODA also recorded strong growth in Serbia (800 vehicles, +47.3%) and the Baltic States (700 vehicles, +24.0%).
In Russia, ŠKODA recorded strong double-digit growth in November compared to the same month last year: Delivering 8,200 vehicles represents an increase of 42.9% compared to the same month of the previous year (November 2017: 5,700 vehicles).

In China, its largest sales market, ŠKODA delivered 28,000 vehicles in November – a year-on-year decrease of 24.3% (November 2017: 37,000 vehicles). Thus, the company’s current sales figures in China reflect the general trend in the currently declining Chinese car market. However, between January and November, ŠKODA delivered 304,300 vehicles in China, which is 7.7% more than the same period last year (January to November 2017: 282,600 vehicles).

In India, ŠKODA delivered 1,400 vehicles in November, a decrease of 4.1% compared to the same period last year (November 2017: 1,400 vehicles).

New sculptural shapes, dynamic design features as well as precision-designed details lend the SCALA a distinct identity. The new compact car is ŠKODA’s first production vehicle in Europe to bear ŠKODA lettering across its tailgate instead of the brand’s well-known logo.

ŠKODA Head of Design, Oliver Stefani, said, “The SCALA is an important step in the further development of the ŠKODA design language. Not only is it a car that is practical and within reach for everybody – as you’ve come to expect from our cars – but it’s also visually extremely powerful, sporty and very emotive.”

With its perfect proportions, clearly defined surfaces, flowing lines and advanced aerodynamics, the new ŠKODA SCALA comes across as modern and sporty. The front is striking with an upright radiator grille, a large air inlet underneath and side Air Curtains. The ŠKODA-specific tornado line makes the vehicle look longer and is in perfect harmony with the car’s dynamic roofline. The aerodynamically optimised roof spoiler and the sporty diffuser underneath the bumper shape the wide rear.

Extended rear window bears ‘ŠKODA’ lettering

As an alternative to the standard tailgate, the car can be ordered with an extended rear window. In this case, the ‘ŠKODA’ lettering is featured on the window itself. In addition to the extended rear window, the Emotion package comes with a large panoramic glass roof including an electrically retractable sunblind as well as full-LED headlights and tail lights.

LED technology provides visual highlights

Innovative LED headlights and tail lights also shape the ŠKODA SCALA’s appearance and showcase the brand-typical crystalline features, which are emphasized by the ŠKODA Crystal Lighting lettering. The headlights are narrow and tapered; the razor-sharp designed tail lights with rear fog light shine in the brand-typical ‘C’ shape. The SCALA is the first ŠKODA to offer dynamic rear indicators as an optional extra. The indicators are divided into individual LEDs. When the driver turns the indicators on, they flash outwards in a sweeping motion. The dynamic indicators are easily noticeable by road users, even in bad weather – an important contribution to improved road traffic safety.

Aerodynamically optimised alloys of up to 18 inches

The range of wheels available for the ŠKODA SCALA starts with 15- and 16-inch steel wheels. Furthermore, there are numerous alloys ranging between 16 and 18 inches to choose from. The 16 inch Hoedus, 17-inch Propus and 18-inch Vega Aero wheels are new to the line-up. All three come in gloss black and have been aerodynamically optimised to make the car more streamlined.

ŠKODA is the strongest European car manufacturer in the strategically important location of Israel
› ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab is represented by a joint venture in the IT hotspot of Tel Aviv
› Around 20,000 deliveries in the first eleven months of 2018; market share of 8.0%
› RAPID and SUPERB were Israel’s most popular vehicles in their respective segments in 2017
› ŠKODA has been firmly established in Israel since the early 1990s

Mladá Boleslav/Tel Aviv, 6 December 2018 – The city of Tel Aviv is one of the world’s most important hotspots for IT start-ups. Could there be a more fitting location for the world premiere of the new ŠKODA SCALA? The compact model has taken a huge leap in terms of connectivity with its new mobile online infotainment services. But there are many other good reasons for the Czech automobile manufacturer to be celebrating the world premiere of the new ŠKODA SCALA compact model in the Mediterranean this Thursday. In partnership with importer Champion Motors, the brand is the strongest European car manufacturer in Israel, and the two companies also operate a joint venture in Tel Aviv – the ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab Israel. This is where ŠKODA works alongside innovative start-ups on digitization and mobility services.

ŠKODA has a long history of success in Israel: In 1991, ŠKODA exported its first models to Israel – the FAVORIT and FORMAN. To date, the traditional Czech brand has delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in the region, making it the strongest European car manufacturer in the region. Over the last decade, the brand has nearly quadrupled its deliveries to customers, with the market share almost doubling since 2011 from 4.1 percent to 8.0 percent. Around 20,000 vehicles were delivered to Israeli customers via the importer Champion Motors between January and the end of November 2018. The manufacturer occupies fourth position in the Israeli car market.

The most popular vehicles in their respective segments in 2017 were the ŠKODA models RAPID and SUPERB. The OCTAVIA also secured a key position of second place in the compact segment. The ŠKODA KODIAQ was also voted Car of the Year in the ‘Large SUV’ category this year in Israel. Israeli customers prefer petrol drivetrains in combination with automatic transmissions. It takes around one month for a vehicle to reach Israel. The vehicles are transported by ship from the Slovenian port of Koper to Ashdod, Israel.

The fleet business accounts for around 50 percent of ŠKODA AUTO’s total sales in Israel. In addition to numerous banking companies, wholesalers and telecommunications companies, Israeli ministries and other state authorities rely on ŠKODA vehicles. In 2016, Importer Champion Motors delivered a total of around 850 vehicles to government institutions: more than 700 ŠKODA OCTAVIAs were deployed to various ministries, and more than 100 ŠKODA SUPERBs were commissioned by senior police officers and other ministries. In addition, around 40 more ŠKODA SUPERBs were delivered to ministers, supreme judges and ministerial directors. Moreover, national organizations of well-known global players have a large vehicle fleet of the brand’s models.

In the financial sector the three largest Israeli fleet customers ordered 1,200 vehicles from ŠKODA, representing more than 40 percent of the total number of company cars at these three companies. ŠKODA AUTO is also firmly established as a fleet partner in the Israeli high-tech sector.

ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab is represented by a joint venture in the IT hotspot of Israel
ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab and the Israeli ŠKODA importer Champion Motors founded a joint venture in Tel Aviv in 2017. The partnership aims to continually engage with regional players on the IT scene as well as companies and universities. Israel currently has more than 6,000 start-ups, around 300 R&D facilities of multinational companies and hundreds of high-tech companies. The automotive industry in Israel is a user and key driver of this dynamic development. More than 500 start-ups and research groups in Israel are currently involved in automotive projects – six times as many as in 2013.

You can watch the livestream on ŠKODA Storyboard and YouTube as well as on Twitter and Facebook. Media outlets can also broadcast the transmission on their own channels via embed code.
